Uncontested Divorce
An uncontested divorce reaches a judge for signature only, after both parties have worked out a settlement of any issues that may have existed. (An uncontested divorce has nothing to do with "Cause of Action" or grounds.)
Sometimes no significant issues exist, even at the beginning. If you have no children, no property of great value, not much in the bank or put away for retirement, and no unusual debts, you may have nothing to argue over or reach agreement about.
Even if you have these issues to work out, you may be able to negotiate and sign a contract called a Marital Settlement Agreement to keep your divorce uncontested and out of the hands of litigating lawyers.
